Protest against Yahoo Japan, claims of sales of ivory
SAN FRANCISCO (KTVU) - Demonstrators sent KTVU a picture in front of the Yahoo building. Their rally included a 7 foot tall, replica elephant with a price tag hanging from its tusks.
Organizers say Yahoo Japan is one of the world's largest online retailers for ivory.
Demonstrators say 1.1 million people signed an online petition demanding that Yahoo Japan stop online sales and ads for ivory.
A Yahoo spokesperson says that the company does not condone any sale of products that are made with ivory, taken from animals at risk of extinction.
Yahoo said it is an investor in Yahoo Japan, and does not own controlling interests.
