Oakland Raider cornerback Sean Smith has been charged with assault on a man in Pasadena, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office.

On Thursday, Deputy District Attorney Christopher Stogel said Sean Lee Smith faces one felony count each of assault and battery with intent to cause great bodily injury in both instances.

Smith is alleged to have beat and stomped a victim's head near the corner of Arroyo Parkway and Colorado Boulevard on July 4, the prosecutor said.

Smith is scheduled to be arraigned on September 29 in Los Angeles County Superior Court.

The suspect faces a possible maximum sentence of seven years in state prison if convicted as charged.

The case remains under investigation by the Pasadena Police Department.
