Gunfire breaks out in San Francisco grocery store parking lot

One person was wounded after being shot in a Safeway parking lot in San Francisco.

One person was injured in a shooting Tuesday evening in a Safeway parking lot in San Francisco, police said.

SFPD said they responded to the 2000 block of Market Street at 4:50 p.m. A large group of juveniles were involved in a fight in the parking lot, police said.  

One victim suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and was transported to the hospital. Police did not specify if the victim was part of the large group or a bystander in the parking lot. 

Police said this was preliminary information and  have not said what led up to the incident. Police have also not said whether there is suspect information available or if any suspects are in custody.
