San Andreas fault earthquake warning: 'Locked loaded and ready to roll'
Thomas Jordan, Director of the Southern California Earthquake Center describes the southern portion of the San Andreas fault as quote - "locked, loaded and ready to roll."
This came out at the opening keynote talk at the National Earthquake Conference in Long Beach Wednesday.
Jordan says, "The pressure has been building on that part of the fault without being relieved for more than a hundred years."
Parts toward the southeast haven't moved since about 1680.
A 7.8 quake in the area would likely cause more than 1800 deaths and 50,000 injuries.
