San Francisco considering lifting ad rules for Warriors' new arena

Chase Center is a multi-purpose arena under construction in the Mission Bay neighborhood of San Francisco that will mainly be used for basketball, becoming the new home of the Golden State Warriors. May 29, 2018

San Francisco city leaders are considering lifting advertising restrictions for the Warriors' new arena in Mission Bay.

The issue is over how advertisements can be displayed on the outside of the Chase Center. Current rules would prevent the Warriors from using a large-scale video screen and an illuminated rooftop logo. Some people are concerned about the effects the lights may have on those living near the arena, and on medical helicopter pilots flying to UCSF.

The Commission on Community Investment and Infrastructure is expected to approve changes to the current rules.

The Chase Center is scheduled to be finished in time for the 2020 season.
