SAN FRANCISCO (KTVU) - A San Francisco hospital is treating two patients from another California county who previously contracted the coronavirus, health officials said in a news release Monday.
University of California San Francisco confirms the two patients are being cared for in isolation.
"In addition to our standard infectious disease protocols, we have instituted a number of measures to screen patients with potential 2019-nCoV, as well as prevent the coronavirus’ spread," UCSF Health said in a statement.
A source tells KTVU the patients are being treated at the Parnassus campus.
According to San Francisco Department of Public Health, the two patients arrived Monday morning and don't pose an elevated risk to the public.
"The hospital is taking all appropriate precautions for patient and staff safety," the department said in a press release.
On Sunday, health officials confirmed three new cases of the coronavirus in California. There are now a known total of two cases in Santa Clara and two cases in San Benito counties.
Officials in San Benito County said two patients who tested positive for the virus showed worsening symptoms on Sunday night and were transferred to another hospital for a "higher level of care."
Authorities still haven't confirmed whether the two patients receiving care at a San Francisco hospital are from San Benito County.
The total number of confirmed cases of the deadly new virus in the United States is now 11.
