SAN FRANCISCO (KTVU) - What kind of event can get San Francisco’s former mayor and current mayor singing Christmas carols?
None other than Lefty O’Doul’s last minute Christmas Eve all-day toy drive.
“You feel so much better participating in this one,” said former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown Jr.
The annual event took a year off last year after a dispute between the restaurant’s owner and landlord, but this year they were in a new location and ready to spread the holiday cheer.

“People in San Francisco they want to see good things happen for people part of what we do best is contribute and support great causes,” said San Francisco Mayor London Breed.
Donating is simple, all you have to do is drive to the new Lefty’s on Jefferson Street at Fisherman’s Wharf before 10:15 p.m. Christmas Eve.
You don’t even have to park, someone is waiting outside to collect toys from cars. What’s gathered goes to local kids in need.
Mayor London Breed even hand delivered some toys from the event at a San Francisco housing community.
This year, Lefty’s wants to beat their record set back in 2016 when they got over 10,000 toys donated.
They were well on their way to that goal as on Monday morning with generous donors taking money away from their own Christmas presents to help out.
“I try my hardest to give I don’t have much but what I do have I try to give so it makes me feel happy when I see the smile on their face,” said Andrew King who donated hats to the cause.
