SAN FRANCISCO (KTVU) - The city of San Francisco honored the legendary Jerry Garcia today.
The city officially unveiled a plaque paying tribute to the founding father of the iconic rock and roll band, The Grateful Dead.
The plaque is located at Amazon Avenue and Mission Street, near one of the homes Garcia lived in while he was growing up.
A Garcia quote "What we're trying to do is expand, rather than narrow" is featured on the plaque.
Garcia was an iconic singer, songwriter, and musician.
He would have turned 75 this year.
A plaque located on Harrington Street also commemorate Garcia, near another one of his childhood homes. That plaque was dedicated last October.
Today's ceremony also coincides with the 50th anniversary of the summer of love.
