San Jose vegetation fire prompts shelter-in-place: Raw video

A large vegetation fire off of Tully Road and U.S. 101 in San Jose has prompted a shelter-in-place for nearby businesses and residents on Tuesday.

Businesses and residents near a San Jose vegetation fire were told to shelter-in-place on Tuesday, according to fire officials.

The San Jose Fire Department described the fire as large near Tully Road and northbound Highway 101. It was first reported at 3:20 p.m.

In an update at around 7:45 p.m., SJ Fire said on social media that there were no injuries, crews cleared the scene and all lanes reopened to traffic.

Traffic was heavily impacted. Drivers looking to access Tully Road were initially told to find alternate routes. The road was shutdown in both directions as heavy smoke drifted south. Residents south of the fire were asked to close their doors and windows.

The fire department said one hotel in the area saw minor external damage from nearby flames. Other than that, no structures were involved.
