San Jose man arrested in murder of mom, left her at hospital
SAN JOSE, Calif. (KTVU) - A San Jose man was arrested on Monday for the murder of his mother, according to police.
On July 18 at around 2:34 p.m. officers responded to Regional Medical Center on report of a severely injured woman who had been dropped off at the hospital.
San Jose police said they were told the victim wouldn't survive her injuries.
On Monday, the woman, who's been identified as 57-year-old Cynthia Mykkanen of San Jose, was taken off life support and pronounced dead.
Homicide detectives learned that the victim was attacked by her son, Ryan Garner, 35, inside their home in the 3300 block of Cortese Circle. After the assault, Garner drove his mother to the hospital where he dropped her off and left her before police arrived.
Officers located the suspect driving on Highway 101 at Blossom Hill Road where he was apprehended by a police canine and taken into custody.
He was treated at a local hospital for dog bite injuries and booked into Santa Clara County Jail for murder.
