San Jose police officers hit by alleged drunk driver while in patrol cars
SAN JOSE, Calif. - Several San Jose police officers were struck by an alleged drunk driver Friday night, authorities said.
The three officers were in two parked patrol cars when the suspected drunk driver collided with them. The officers, who were on duty, only had minor injuries, officials said.
The officers were struck around 10:25 p.m. in the area of King Road and Burdette Drive when they were conducting a pedestrian stop, according to officials.
In photos shared by the San Jose Police Department, the left rear side of one of the police vehicles had a mangled tire, scratches and dents. One of the involved officers appeared to have scuffed pants following the collision.
It's unclear if the suspected DUI driver, whom police did not identify, suffered any injuries. He was booked into jail.
"This holiday season, please remember that drunk or "buzzed" driving is never okay. Choose safety this holiday season, designate a sober driver, use ride-share services, or stay the night. Let’s keep everyone safe so that they can spend this holiday season with loved ones," San Jose police officials said.
