SAN JOSE, Calif. - San Jose police say a man was shot and killed on Blossom River Drive just after 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. The street is located near the Westfield Oakridge Mall. They don’t have a suspect and are looking for the public’s help to try and solve this case.
"Upon arrival, officers located a male adult who was down suffering from at least one gunshot wound," said Jorge Garibay, from the San Jose Police Department.
San Jose police responded to reports of a shooting on the 1000 block of Blossom River Drive around 1:38 in the afternoon. Officers say after finding the victim, they called paramedics, but he was pronounced dead shortly after first responders arrived.
"At this point and time, we do not have any information on a suspect. The motive and the circumstances are still under investigation," Garibay said.
People in the neighborhood we spoke to say they were shocked to see something like this happen. This is a heavily populated area, and directly across the street from a large shopping mall. It’s also an area with housing and services for Seniors.
"Because even if you think it was something that wasn’t super important, maybe you just heard something. We could really use that information, it could put the pieces together for us to solve this," Garibay said.
The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner has not released any information about the victim. Though police say they’re still collecting evidence, they did find what appeared to be a gun near where the shooting occurred.
"We’re asking for more witnesses. We’re trying to get as much information as we can. Really we’re using our media partners here and urging the public to please contact us," Garibay said.
San Jose police say they’ll continue investigating this shooting death, which is the 9th homicide in the city so far this year.
