A San Jose teenager lost his long battle with cancer after the community helped him cross off the items on his bucket list.

Alex Matlosz -Cox died Friday morning according to a Facebook post from his mother Bobbie.

"It breaks my heart to say that it was not a peaceful passing. He definitely went down swinging.I would respectfully like to request that no emails or texts at this point while I make arrangements.Feel free to comment on this post. I am well aware that Alex was well loved, and his passing is a very great loss. I will post details on his funeral arrangements as soon as that's been finalized. Also feel free to share this post to spread the word. ---Bobbie Cox

Alex was diagnosed with an aggressive form of bone cancer when he was 15-years-old.

While fighting the disease, he vowed to make the most out of the rest of his life.

The community came together to help Alex cross items off his bucket list.

Complete strangers took him sailing, flying, spearfishing and fencing. He rode in exotic cars, and got a tattoo.

Last summer Alex, reached another goal, he made it to his 18th birthday and celebrated an anniversary with his girlfriend.

Before his death, Alex told us he's learned "To not fear death, but rather fear a life that you're not proud of living."

While Alex's life was cut short, he lived a full life surrounded by love.
