SAN PABLO, Calif. - A neighborhood near San Pablo on Monday was on lockdown for 15 hours until the sheriff's office took a suspect into custody.
Some residents said they couldn't return to their homes, while others described hearing gunshots for several hours.
The Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office has not said what was going on, but announced after 4 p.m. that a suspect was in custody.

Deputies had blocked off entrances to Montalvin Manor, near Rachel and Heather roads early in the morning.
At one point, a man with a gun fired rounds at a law enforcement drone, witness said.
Olivia Pech said her husband heard shots at 1 a.m. She heard shots at 4 a.m. before she went to the gym.
"There are crazy things that happen over there," she said. "But a shooting, that's pretty new. My neighbor called me and said be careful."
Other neighbors said they dropped off loved ones at work or the airport, and when they got back to the neighborhood, were told by deputies they would have to wait.
As a result of the lockdown, West Contra Costa County Unified school officials said they closed Montalvin Manor Elementary K8 School on Monday under the advisement of the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office.
Residents received alerts to stay locked in their homes.
