SB 680 transition to 101 to reopen, incident involving pedestrian resolved
SAN JOSE, Calif. - An incident that closed the overpass connecting southbound Interstate Highway 680 and U.S. Highway 101 this afternoon in San Jose involving a pedestrian has been resolved, according to the a California Highway Patrol officer.
At about 12:50 p.m., CHP officers responded to the area for a report about a pedestrian on the overpass, according to CHP Officer Ross Lee.
Negotiators contacted the pedestrian, who refused to come down, and were eventually able to get them to safety.
The overpass' closure affected traffic on southbound Highway 680 and northbound Interstate Highway 280 for most of the afternoon. U.S. Highway 101 was not closed during the incident, Lee said.
The overpass is expected to reopen by 6 p.m., according to Lee.
