HOUSTON (FOX 26) - It's a place for peace where beautiful plants and flowers flourish for families to enjoy.
"I like to bring my kids because there's a bunch of pretty sites here," SAID Jocelyn Blanco. The Mercer Arboretum and Botanic Garden on Aldine Westfield in Humble is where Joseph Workman likes to bring his kids. “It’s supposed to be like a nice nature walk to kind of ease your mind and clear your head,” he said.
But after hearing about what 66-year-old Roger Lee Warren is accused of doing in a public restroom here he's not so sure. The Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office says Warren tried to solicit sex acts and exposed himself to an undercover male deputy in a men's bathroom during an undercover operation.
“First of all that's disgusting, when you hear about stuff like that it kind of makes you want to stay away from it, that is wrong,” said Workman.
“This type of criminal activity does deteriorate our community where we live. We have a zero tolerance approach. If we can hit it on the front end and make some arrests and get these are folks off the street our community is that much safer," said Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman.
Warren, a now former Humble ISD school bus driver, is charged with Indecent Exposure. The school district says he promptly reported the incident to his supervisor and resigned immediately.
Constable Mark Herman says his team is focusing on other nearby parks as well. “Let folks know that if you go out and commit these kind of acts you could be doing it to an undercover officer and again we have plenty of undercover females, plenty of undercover males, and we are out in the communities."
