Search underway after deadly Livermore shooting
(BCN) - Detectives obtained a warrant Sunday morning for the arrest of a West Oakland man they suspect to be connected to a Saturday night shooting in Livermore that killed one man and wounded another, according to police.
The suspect has been identified as 18-year-old Jason Alexander Brown.
Around 5:30 a.m. Sunday Livermore police served a search warrant at Brown's home in the vicinity of Center and Eighth streets with the assistance of the Oakland Police Department.
Oakland police also reported a standoff in that area around 1 a.m. after suspects in an unspecified crime reportedly barricaded themselves inside a residence.
Brown was not home at the time of the search, and he remained at large as of 7:30 a.m., according to Livermore police.
He's considered armed and dangerous, police said, and investigators believe there is a second suspect who has not yet been identified.
Brown is suspected of shooting at a car in a Livermore parking lot Saturday evening.
A man in his 20s died in the shooting and another man in his 20s was injured, according to police.
Police received multiple 911 calls at 6:05 p.m. regarding the shooting in the parking lot of a CVS Pharmacy store at 1500 First St., according to police.
Upon arrival, officers found two people inside a parked car.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene and a passenger, who is in his 20s, was taken to a hospital, according to police.
Police are withholding the identity of the deceased man, pending notification of his next of kin.
Detectives have confirmed that neither of the victims are Livermore residents, police said.
Officers said two male suspects were seen driving a black 2006 BMW 325i with two red racing stripes on the hood with the license plate number 5PLR682, according to police.
Officers described Brown as a thin and tall black male, wearing a gray beanie, police said. He was armed with a long black gun, according to police.
Officers do not have a description of the other suspect, police said.
The suspects were seen driving out of the parking lot onto Railroad Avenue and California Highway Patrol officers last saw the vehicle in Oakland, police said.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact the Livermore Police Department at (925) 371-4777.
