Shark bites surfer's board off San Luis Obispo Co. coast

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. (KTVU) - Morro Strand Beach in San Luis Obispo County was closed after a shark attacked a surfer Saturday.

The woman says she saw something that she thought was a dolphin but realized it was a shark heading towards her. It then took a 14-inch bite out of her board.

She says she pushed her board toward the shark as she jumped off. That surfer was not hurt.

Meanwhile in Southern California, two beaches are expected to re-open Monday after shark sightings over the weekend.

Some southern California boaters shot video of a large hammerhead shark circling them near La Jolla. It was 8-feet long.

Several witnesses say the shark appeared to be aggressive. One kayaker even said it followed him in all the way to the beach.
