FRESNO, Calif. (AP, KTVU) - Authorities say a California woman who was missing for more than two weeks survived by eating bugs and drinking from a cattle trough.
Merced County Sheriff Vern Warnke says 33-year-old Jamie Tull didn't want to be found.
A search team located her Friday in wide open grazing land north of Fresno. She'd been missing for 17 days.
Warnke says she's malnourished and badly sunburned after enduring a scorching summer heat-wave with no shelter.
Tull was on the phone with her husband last month when she crashed her vehicle and walked away. Searchers found her less than a mile away.
Warnke says Tull told rescuers she wanted some food but then to be left alone. She was taken to a hospital for treatment and is expected to recover.
In a Facebook post Friday morning, sheriff's officials said that Tull would soon be reunited with her family and they thanked the community for its help in locating her.
