OAKLAND, Calif. - Oakland police were called out to the site of a two-alarm fire on Tuesday to check out what a neighbor reported was the sound of gun shots, but when they arrived, they didn't find any victims.
Police said their dispatch was called about 6 a.m. about the shooting at the site of a fire in the 1900 block of International Boulevard. Police originally deemed the site a crime scene, but later deemed it clear.
Meanwhile, Oakland firefighters said they had the fire at 19th Avenue and Marin Way under control just before 7 a.m. Five people were displaced but everyone got out safely, the firefighters said.
It's unclear what the building on fire had been used for. It's located in a neighborhood that has both residential and commercial buildings.
The Red Cross has been called to help.
