Six-car collision on westbound I-80 in Berkeley prompts lane closures

A six-car collision on westbound Interstate 80 in Berkeley caused minor injuries and snarled traffic around lunchtime on Friday, according to the California Highway Patrol. 

The crash was first reported at 11:07 a.m.. A Sig Alert was issued shortly after and all westbound lanes at the Ashby Avenue exit were closed. 

The two left lanes re-opened around 11:30 a.m. and two more followed just before noon, leaving just the far right lane closed. 

It's unclear how many people were in each vehicle. The CHP said minor injuries were sustained in the collision.
