SAN JOSE, Calif. - San Jose police arrested a driver on suspicion of felony hit-and-run early Thursday morning in a multi-injury accident that spanned two collision sites in the Naglee Park neighborhood.
Sgt. Enrique Garcia did not immediately identify the driver, who was taken to the hospital, along with a passenger. Garcia said two vehicles were involved in the collision reported at 1 p.m. in the 900 block of Vine Street. Neighbors said seven vehicles were involved.
From the scene, witnesses report that a Ford pickup slammed into a car and then continued to travel along the street into the front yard of a nearby home about half a block away. The truck finally came to a stop in someone's front yard, striking at least two parked vehicles, according to neighbors and video at the scene.
Homeowner Isaac Andrad had a narrow miss. He had just walked outside after taking out the trash when the truck slammed in his front yard. "We heard a crash," he said. "And saw people run away. Police said they got caught outside of the church."
Police say three occupants of the pickup fled the scene but officers later found two of them down the street. They were taken to the hospital. One passenger from the truck is still outstanding.
