South Bay voters mostly stick with incumbents
SAN JOSE, Calif. - South Bay voters on Tuesday mostly chose to stick with incumbents in some key posts.
Sam Liccardo will remain as mayor of San Jose with nearly 75 percent of the vote.
Jeff Rosen, who ran unopposed, will remain District Attorney.
Laurie Smith won 44 percent of the vote to remain Santa Clara County Sheriff. But she will face John Hirokawa in a runoff election, as he earned 30 percent of the vote. A candidate would have had to have won a majority to have won outright. Smith is seeking a sixth term.
The Mercury News reported she has not had to face a runoff since her first election in 1988.
