Stampede Reservoir skater's body recovered

The body of an ice skater has been retrieved from the Stampede Reservoir near Truckee. The skater had fallen into the lake when the frozen surface broke apart. Seven other ice skaters were managed to get to safety.

The body of an ice skater who fell into the frigid Stampede Reservoir north of Truckee has been recovered from the lake. 

The skater was one of eight who tumbled into the water when the lake's frozen surface broke on Saturday, according to the Sierra County sheriff's office.

The seven others managed to safely get out of the reservoir.

The skater's identity has not been revealed.
