Suspect in fatal hit-and-run of Oakland mom, 6-year-old son captured in Virginia
OAKLAND, Calif. (KTVU) - Authorities have arrested the suspect wanted by Oakland police in a deadly hit-and-run two months that claimed the life of a woman and her 6-year-old son.
The suspect, Rasenoch Allen, 27, was apprehended in Virginia with the help of U.S. Marshals.
On April 13, around 7:30 p.m. Alma Soraya Vasquez, 30, her son, 6-year-old Angel Garcia, and his uncle were crossing the street at the intersection of 26th and Fruitvale when they were hit by a black Mercedes.
Authorities say Allen was driving the vehicle when he slammed into the family as they were in a marked crosswalk, killing the woman and her son and seriously injuring the man.
Allen drove off leaving witnesses scrambling to help.
The family was walking to a nearby laundromat when tragedy struck.
