A suspect was shot in the arm and injured by a police officer when they responded to multiple calls about two male suspects and a woman in a fight.on Campus Drive in Daly City on Monday afternoon.

According to police, the incident began around 12:45 p.m. and led to a police pursuit. The suspect was shot and injured by an officer, but is expected to survive after being taken to General Hospital.

Police initially responded to a report of a man with a knife chasing a woman on Campus Drive.

The pursuit ended in the backyard of a home on St. Francis Boulevard.

It is still an active crime scene with members of the Daly City Police and San Mateo County District Attorney’s inspectors on hand.

Witnesses said the man chased a woman with a knife. When officers arrived, the suspect fled and ran up Campus Drive, up an embankment and ended up in the backyard of a home on the 800 block of St. Francis Blvd.

Some type of confrontation took place in the backyard and that’s when the officer apparently shot the suspect.

The names of the officer involved and the suspect have not been released.

A multi-agency investigation into the incident will now take place.

Sgt. Edward Green with Daly City Police said at a news conference that the suspect entered a resident’s home through the back yard and updated the suspect’s condition as stable.

Green did not elaborate on what exactly led to the officer to shoot the man and did not say if a knife had been recovered from the crime scene.
