Items seized by San Mateo police at a suspected brothel

Police have identified an alleged brothel and arrested suspected sex workers on a tip from concerned neighbors at a San Mateo apartment.

Community members contacted police about possible prostitution activity at an apartment on Bridgepointe Parkway, officials said.

Authorities began investigating and on Friday, they searched the apartment and determined it was operating as a brothel and arrested two sex workers.

Posting about the crime, police showed items believed to be recovered from the apartment, which included hundreds of dollars in cash.

"As we always say, our community are the extra sets of eyes and ears we need to combat crime and quality of life issues. This case was brought to our attention by concerned residents who reported it to both our Dispatch and via our anonymous tip line," police said.
