A teen from Colorado with hopes of playing soccer for Stanford became inspired by other online trick-shot performers so he decided to imitate. And because of it, his confidence during games on the soccer field has grown considerably.

Berkley Fuller has been playing soccer for almost 13 years and began doing trick-shots about five years ago, everything from multi-person water bottle flips to skilled soccer ball kicks. The 16-year-old from Fort Collins, Colorado is this week’s talent on That Kid’s Got Game

He plays high school ball for Fossil Ridge High School and club for Arsenal ECNL. Though he used to play basketball competitively, and still uses a hoop for trick-shots, his main focus right now is sharpening his soccer skills. He has high hopes for playing for Stanford, a goal amplified by back-to-back college ID camps at the academic powerhouse adjacent to Palo Alto. The junior will have to keep up that 3.8 grade point average he carried last semester.

And don’t let the five-year-long devotion to trick shots fool you, Berkley is a soccer player who also does trick shots. It started out as something fun after watching the popular Dude Perfect YouTube channel. Now he’s seen his work with trick shots carry over to on the field in terms of confidence.

“Being able to look up and hit it top right, and I know I’m good enough to do that, that helps,” said Berkley.

Between school and soccer, he’s currently devoting a few hours one day per week towards trick shots, though sometimes it varies. And for the most part, Berkley creates, shoots and edits his own trick shots. Friends and family help if they’re around, and participate in some cases, like an over-the-roof football toss from his cousin that Berkley caught while bouncing on a trampoline.
