MAIL THEFT SUSPECTS NABBED: A traffic stop by Santa Clara County sheriff's deputies led to the arrest of three alleged mail thieves.

Deputies on patrol in Cupertino tried to stop an SUV for a minr vehicle-code violation, but the driver "made a few elusive turns" before pulling over near Bollinger Road and Vernie Court, authorities said.

The deputies contacted the three inside and learned that they were on probation for burglary. A search of the SUV uncovered a window punch, several pieces of mail belonging to five Saratoga residents and .2 grams of methamphetamine, authorities said.

Two of the suspects were booked at Santa Clara County Jail for mail theft, while the third was arrested for possession of burglary tools. One of the suspects admitted to stealing mail from unlocked mailboxes at night, authorities said.
