Tip leads Solano Sheriff's to 428 plants in marijuana grow

428 marijuana plants in various stages of growth were confiscated from a pot growing operation in Solano County Wednesday, according to the sheriff's office. 

After a tip from a citizen sparked a four-month investigation, the plants, with an estimated street value of $40,000 were recovered from the 6000 block of Elkhorn Court in Vallejo. Sheriff's detectives said the entire home had been converted to an "elaborate" marijuana cultivation operation. 

The resident was named as 39-year-old Jason Johnson of Vallejo. He was booked into Solano County Jail on cultivation, possession of marijuana charges in addition to charges for maintaining a place for the purpose of unlawful selling, giving away or using any controlled substance.
