A fire on a tour bus in San Jose briefly shut down parts of northbound Highway 880 overnight.

No one was injured in the incident.

Authorities say it happened just after 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, near Gish Road, at the 101 connector ramp.

The bus driver pulled over after seeing smoke coming from the bus, said the CHP.

There were 17 people were onboard the bus at the time, and everyone was able to get off before the fire grew.

"This could have been a tragic situation..passengers in a bus that catches on fire," said Sgt. Tom Byington, California Highway Patrol. "He was able to get the bus safely stopped, and all the passengers off the bus and away from the bus to a safe location and they weren't harmed."

There's no word yet on what sparked the fire.
