Two people killed in traffic collision in San Jose
Two people have died from a traffic collision in San Jose Monday night. San Jose Police Department units are at the scene in the area of Lawrence Expressway and Mitty Way.
SAN JOSE, Calif. - Two people were killed in a traffic collision in San Jose late Monday night near Archbishop Mitty High School.
San Jose Police say a Honda Accord ran a red light and crashed into a Toyota Camry, killing a man and a woman.
Police were called to the scene about 10 p.m. at Lawrence Expressway and Mitty Way.

Two die in San Jose traffic collision near Archbishop Mitty High School
Witnesses describe a tragic chain of events late Monday night when Santa Clara County sheriff's deputies tried to pull over a white Honda Accord. The vehicle then ran a red light and crashed into a Toyota Camry, pushing it into a sound wall, killing them.
The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office says deputies tried to pull over the driver of the Accord, traveling northbound on Lawrence Expressway, but the driver refused to stop and crashed into the Camry.
SJPD's preliminary investigation revealed the adult male driver and the 17-year-old passenger in the Accord sustained non-life threatening injuries. They were transported to a local hospital. The man and woman who were killed, were pronounced dead at the scene. Witnesses said the Camry was pushed into a sound wall upon impact.
Both occupants of the Accord were arrested by San Jose police on suspicion of evading an officer and gross vehicular manslaughter along with multiple firearm and narcotics offenses.
Once they are released from the hospital, they will be booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail and Juvenile Hall for their respective charges.
Police say this is the 14th fatal traffic collision on San Jose city streets for 2021, with the 14th and 15th victims.
The scene was still taped off on Tuesday morning. The road reopened at 8:30 a.m.
The victims' identities have still not been released by the county's medical examiner as they are confirming the identity and notifying next of kin.
