Protesters arrested after unlawful assembly declared in DTLA on Election Night
At least 30 people were detained after an unlawful assembly was declared outside of Staples Center on Tuesday night, officials said.
LOS ANGELES - At least 30 people were detained after an unlawful assembly was declared outside of Staples Center on Tuesday night, officials said.
By Wednesday morning, there were no reports of damage to downtown Los Angeles businesses, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
LAPD officers cited and released 30 people for blocking an intersection and an additional 40 people were arrested for failing to disperse and blocking train tracks at the Metro (A) Blue line station near 8th and Hope streets.

Protests in Downtown LA
An unlawful assembly was declared Tuesday night and several people were detained at a demonstration against Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie Lacey outside Staples Center.
Police established a skirmish line in the 1100 block of Figueroa Street where a large crowd gathered Tuesday night.

Following reports of the large gathering, there was a large police presence at the scene and people were asked to avoid the area. Officials said the protest began as a defeat Jackie Lacey effort.
Later in the evening, some protesters left the Staples Center and walked through the downtown LA area. Shortly after 8 p.m., dozens of protesters marched away from Staples Center eastbound on Venice Boulevard and later westbound on Washington Boulevard.
About an hour later, the police department declared an unlawful assembly at 18th and Figueroa streets.
