Vacant lot transforming into new East Bay park

HAYWARD, Calif. - The Hayward Recreation and Park District is transforming a vacant lot into a vibrant community park.

Plans show what the new Ashland Zocalo Park will offer.

The park will provide play spaces for children, as well as an exercise corner and walking loop.

There will also be a new lawn in front of a permanent stage for community events. 

The grand opening is scheduled for June 13.
