Vallejo murder suspect linked to woman charged in killing of US border patrol agent
VALLEJO, Calif. - A Washington man arrested Friday in connection to a deadly stabbing in Vallejo earlier this month applied for a marriage license in November with the woman charged in the fatal shooting of a U.S. Border Patrol agent in Vermont, records show.
According to Vallejo police, 22-year-old Maximilian Bentley Snyder has been charged in the stabbing that occurred on Jan. 17 in the area of Lemon and Third streets.
The stabbing was Vallejo's first homicide of the year.
A criminal complaint filed in Solano County on Monday alleges the stabbing victim, identified as C.L., was a witness to a crime who was "intentionally killed for the purpose of preventing his testimony in a criminal proceeding" or to retaliate for his testimony.
Police have not identified the victim publicly.

A gofundme.com fundraiser for a man by the name of Curtis Lind, who was stabbed in 2022 and survived, says he was attacked on his property in Vallejo on Jan. 17 and died.
"It is with deep heartache we announce the passing of Curtis Lind at the age of 82. On January 17th, 2025 Curtis was viciously attacked in front of his property in Vallejo, California, resulting in his death," the fundraiser reads.
The backstory:
In November 2022, a Vallejo landlord, identified as Curtis Lind, was stabbed with a sword and injured during a tenant dispute at his property located at Lemon and Third streets, KTVU reported in 2022.
"He miraculously survived being stabbed multiple times, had a sword impaled through his chest and ultimately lost his right eye," the recent GoFundMe page says.
During the 2022 altercation, authorities say Lind fired a weapon, killing a woman identified at the time as E.B.
In 2022, suspects Suri Dao, 21, and Alexander Jeffrey Leatham, 27, were charged with suspicion of murder in the killing of the woman and attempted murder and aggravated mayhem in the sword attack of Lind.
Dao and Leatham's next court appearance, a trial confirmation hearing, is set for Feb. 19 in Solano County Superior Court.
Snyder, suspected in the deadly stabbing on Jan. 17, was arrested in Redding around 1 a.m. last Friday, Vallejo police said.
The 22-year-old is from Kirkland, Washington, according to police.

Dig deeper:
Public records in King County, Wash. show Snyder and a woman named Teresa Consuelo Youngblut applied for a marriage license on Nov. 5.
Youngblut, 21, was also arrested last Friday in Washington in connection to the killing of Border Patrol Agent David Maland, according to the FBI.
Authorities say Maland stopped Youngblut and a man identified as Felix Baukholt on Jan. 20 as they were driving on Interstate 91 in Vermont. Baukholt was a German citizen and appeared to have an expired visa and was under law enforcement surveillance, according to the criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Vermont.
During the traffic stop, Youngblut opened fire on Maland and other officers and Baukholt tried to draw his gun, but was shot and killed.
What's next:
Snyder appeared in Solano County Superior Court Tuesday afternoon and his next court date is scheduled for Feb. 6 at 9 a.m.
"Due to the pendency of this criminal case, no further information will be released at this time," the Solano County District Attorney said.
Youngblut was taken to the hospital after the altercation with the border patrol agent, US officials said last week.
She was scheduled to appear in federal court on Monday.
