VALLEJO (KTVU and wires) – A ransom demand was received for a 30-year-old Vallejo woman who was forcibly taken from her Mare Island home by an unknown abductor, Vallejo police said Tuesday.
Vallejo police Lt. Kenny Park said investigators got a call from a man who lives with Denise Huskins reporting she had been abducted.
"All I can tell you is there was a ransom demand," said Park, who would not divulge whether it was a written or verbal demand for cash.
Police were notified by the unidentified man on Monday afternoon that Huskins had been abducted from her Mare Island home in the "early morning hours."
But Park would not give any explanation why the man waited for 12 hours to report the abduction saying only that "he must have been concerned to contact the police."
Park said the man was not a suspect at this time and was working with police.
"We are currently working with him to piece the puzzle together," he said.
Park said officers found Huskins' car, a 2000 Toyota Camry with California license plate number 4GQA436, at an undisclosed location in Vallejo, but no sign of the missing woman.
Vallejo police were investigating the possible kidnapping with along with the FBI and Solano County Office of Emergency Services Search Team.
Investigators were asking anyone with information about Huskins whereabouts should contact the Vallejo Police Department at 707-648-4524
