Car smashes into Hayward Round Table Pizza after road rage shooting, police say

A road-rage incident in Downtown Hayward led to shots fired and one of the cars involved crashing into a Round Table Pizza, according to police. A search for five teens who ran from the car is still underway. No one was hurt in the shooting or the crash.

A vehicle slammed into a pizza parlor in downtown Hayward on Friday after a road rage shooting, according to police.

Hayward police said that they were notified shortly before noon of a road rage incident involving a stolen white Toyota Corolla and a Chevy Avalanche pickup truck. During the altercation, an occupant in the white car fired shots at the truck, which then rammed the car into the Round Table Pizza on Foothill Boulevard, according to police and a witness.

Driver shoots teacher's car in frightening Oakland road rage encounter

A woman shared her story of a frightening encounter on the city streets of uptown Oakland. She said her ordeal stemmed from a road rage incident that escalated to a driver firing his gun at her car.

"I was very scared, and I didn't know what happened. I heard a noise, but then I heard the car coming through us. It was very scary," said Santiago Munoz, Round Table's manager.

He said the Chevy truck's driver told him he had come under fire.

Munoz said he was punched by a teenage boy from the car after asking him what was going on.

No one was hurt by gunfire or as a result of the crash.

As of now, police have not taken any suspect into custody.

"Obviously, people can get emotional when they feel like they've been cut off or when they feel like there's some sort of unfair driving behavior that's going on," said Officer Cassondra Fovel, a Hayward police spokeswoman. "We just want to caution the community that you never know if anybody is armed."
