NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - Shocking video shows a sign come crashing down on two women in Brooklyn as they talk to each other outside a dental office.
The incident in front of Brooklyn Smile on Fourth Ave. happened at about 5:45 p.m. on Monday.
The women flinch and try to move away as the sign lands on them trapping one woman. The other fell next to it and onto the sidewalk.
Several people are seen rushing over to lift the sign and help the women to their feet.
Both were taken to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn with serious injuries, said fire officials.
The Buildings Department reportedly issued a full vacate order to the building, according to the NY Post. During an inspection, the department found the owner had demolished a second floor without a permit. A summons was issued as well as a stop work order.
SkyFOXHD was over the scene as firefighters moved the sign that appeared to be decaying off to the side.
