Rain on the way: Here's when wet weather will arrive in the Bay Area
OAKLAND, Calif. - The Bay Area is once again bracing for wet weather with the first batch of rain set to arrive Wednesday evening in the North Bay.
According to the National Weather Service, "multiple" storm systems will hit the Bay Area and central California coast through next week.
When is it going to rain in the Bay Area?
The first rain system will bring light rain to the North Bay beginning late Wednesday into Thursday morning.
The second rain system will bring more widespread rain in the Bay Area starting Thursday night through Sunday morning.
"Rain starts to come through the region later today and Thursday, before a second, more impactful storm comes Friday and Saturday. Rain chances continue through the early part of next week," the NWS said on X Wednesday morning.
Rain may continue into next week, the weather agency said.
Coast flood advisory
The National Weather Service issued a coastal flood advisory that will take effect Thursday at 6 a.m. through 1 p.m. next Monday.
The coastal flood advisory is in place along the shoreline along the San Francisco Bay and San Pablo Bay.
High surf advisory
A high surf advisory will be in place along beaches from Point Reyes, down to Big Sur beginning Thursday at 1 p.m., the NWS says, continuing through Friday at 4 a.m.
"This is just the start of hazardous conditions that will be expected into next week. Please exercise extreme caution on the water and at the beach," the NWS said on social media.
The Bay Area saw its first major storm of the season in November when an atmospheric river brought severe rainfall and flooding to the North Bay.

Day two of the atmospheric river storm dumped more rain on Santa Rosa, causing widespread flooding on streets and parking lots. At the Sutter Health clinic on Airway Road, patients were stranded with no way to leave, and other patients couldn't get to their appointments because a creek overflowed and flooded the parking lot and only access road around noon Thursday. Fire crews and a swift water rescue team were able to get patients safely out by 4 p.m. but fire officials reported at least eleven other flooded areas.
