Wildfire in San Rafael hills contained at 12.6 acres, no injuries reported

Firefighters extinguished a 12.6-acre wildfire Saturday afternoon in the area of Boyd Memorial Park in the San Rafael hills.

The fire was first reported at about 3:30 p.m. and grew to 7 acres at 4:32 p.m. No structures were damaged and there were no evacuations, according to San Rafael fire officials.

Residents on Coleman and Graceland drives, Lincoln and El Cerrito avenues and Live Oak Way were told to shelter in place but the advisory was lifted at about 6:30 p.m. after the fire was contained.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation and firefighters remained on scene through the evening to ensure there were no hot spots.

Marin County and CAL Fire officials assisted San Rafael firefighters to extinguish the blaze.
