Driver of car with 'Will Run' license plate smashes into SUV

A teen is accused of plowing into an SUV and injuring three people while trying to flee from the California Highway Patrol in Santa Rosa. The suspect's car had a license plate that said "WILL RUN."

An 18-year-old Santa Rosa man fled a California Highway Patrol stop and smashed into the back of an SUV carrying two adults and a child Saturday afternoon, the CHP announced on Facebook.

Marcus Burton, 18, was driving a Ford Mustang with its license plate covered with a sign stating "Will Run" when he collided with the SUV around 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

The driver reached speeds over 100 mph during the incident before it slammed into the SUV on Highway 101 near the Mendocino Avenue exit, the CHP said.

The three victims were transported to a nearby hospital and treated for minor to moderate injuries.

Burton's vehicle was involved in other incidents involving multiples agencies, said David Derutte, a CHP spokesman. "Nothing as extreme as yesterday," he added.

Burton was booked into Sonoma County jail on charges for evading police, evading police causing injury, and child endangerment, all felony charges.
