Woman dies in car accident near Livermore airport

On the eve of Thanksgiving, a woman was killed and another person suffered major injuries in a car accident near the Livermore Municipal Airport, where alcohol is suspected, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP Sgt. Brett Cochran said the crash was reported at 11:45 p.m. on Wednesday on westbound Stanley Boulevard, west of Isabel Avenue.

Investigators say the blue Kia SUV carrying five people, was likely also speeding and lost control of the vehicle. Alcohol was found in the car, and the driver was arrested.

The CHP says this was the first deadly crash in the Bay Area weekend as the Thanksgiving holiday weekend kicks off.
