Video: Woman narrowly escapes armed carjacking in Oakland hills

OAKLAND, Calif. - Frightening dashcam video obtained by KTVU shows a woman narrowly escaping an armed carjacking in Oakland.

Police said the attempted carjacking took place around 8 a.m. Friday. KTVU spoke with the victim who asked her identity not be revealed.

The 45-second video follows the woman driving southeast on Skyline Boulevard behind a white Dodge Charger.

Suddenly, the Dodge Charger slowed in the middle of the road, stopping at an angle to block the woman's path. There are no other cars in sight.

"They pulled in front of me," the woman said. "The guy jumped out, ran towards me with a gun." 

The driver of the Dodge Charger exits quickly, pulling out a gun and running to the left of the woman's car. He then seemingly bangs on the driver-side window.

A second person exits the Dodge Charger on the right and runs to the right side of the woman's car. It is unclear if he was armed.

"I punched it I ran around their car and I drove away as fast as I could to try to get someplace safe," she said.

The woman said she turned right on Keller Ave to get away.

"I feel very fortunate that no guns were fire, no cars were crashed, no people were on the street," she said, adding she has been driving that route for 38 years but will start taking a different route for a while.

Although no arrests have been made, police say the same suspect may be linked to other carjackings in the East Oakland hills.
