NAPA, Calif. (KTVU and wires) – The Wragg Fire burning near Lake Berryessa in Napa and Solano counties, is now 47-percent contained, and has destroyed 6,900 acres, said Cal Fire.
All mandatory evacuation orders and road closures were being lifted by Saturday morning, authorities said.
There are currently 1,825 firefighters on the fire line, with 157 fire engines, 28 bulldozers and 13 helicopters.
This wildfire has destroyed one structure and a tent trailer. No injuries have been reported.
The Wragg fire started Wednesday at 2:24 p.m. after a vehicle crash at 7700 state Highway 128 at Wragg Canyon Road. But the fire's cause still remains under investigation.
"The conditions out there because of the drought have caused all of the fuel and vegetation to become extremely dry and readily available to burn, so it's definitely contributed to how quickly the fire has spread," said Amy Head, state fire spokeswoman.
A townhall forum for beleaguered residents are expected to attend the event Saturday night at the Winters Fire Department.
The American Red Cross opened an evacuation center in Winters, as well as a large animal evacuation center.
Winds have been erratic during the firefighting efforts, and the terrain is brush covered, rugged and steep with difficult access, fire officials said.
Lake Berryessa is one of the largest bodies of fresh water in California, and while it's less than an hour's drive to California's famed Napa Valley wine country, the wineries were in no immediate danger from the fire.
There is no estimate on when the fire will be fully contained.
