What's at stake for the presidential debate between Biden, Trump

Todd Belt, professor and director of political management at George Washington University, discusses what's at stake for Thursday's presidential debate between Joe Biden and Donald Trump.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom will be on hand for the presidential debate in Atlanta on Thursday night.

Newsom is expected to serve as a surrogate for the Biden campaign and will make several national TV appearances.

This is not the first time Newsom has served in that capacity. He acted as a surrogate for Biden after the Republican presidential primary debate in Southern California in September.

The presidential debate between the two presumptive nominees, President Biden and former president Donald Trump, will be simulcast on major TV networks, including KTVU, at 6 p.m. PT.

Newsom defends progressive values, says they’re an ‘antidote’ to populism on the right

The political tone of Newsom’s speech was not surprising given his role as one of the Biden campaign’s top surrogates, which has made him a target of Republicans who have repeatedly held up California as an example of Democrats’ mismanagement.
