A's kick of the season with home opener Monday night
Oakland, Calif. (KTVU) - It’s the home opener for the Oakland Athletics Monday night and fans are ready for the new 2016 season.
The A’s face off in a four-game homestand against the Chicago White Sox. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m.
Sonny Gray was set to make his third consecutive opening day start, but he came down with food poisoning. Rich Hill will replace him. A total of 35,000 fans are expected to attend the game.
The team is asking everyone to wear an Athletics baseball cap for opening day.
There will also be a pair of giveaways, a pre-game pyrotechnic display and a “Sonny Siders” ticket special.
The 22nd Airlift Squadron and the C-5M Galaxy from Travis Air Force Base will also be doing a flyover.
Throughout the season, elementary school students will get help with their homework on certain game days at the Coliseum. A’s players will then sign autographs as a way to congratulate them for their hard work.
A’s fans can also take advantage of Rapid Deal Days by BARTable. A select number of $5 tickets will be available online for certain games.
