Giants legend Will Clark sits down with KTVU

KTVU's Sal Castaneda spoke with Will Clark ahead of his Saturday jersey retirement about his career, love of San Francisco and more.

San Francisco Giants legend Will Clark’s No. 22 is officially out of circulation. In a pregame ceremony on Saturday, the organization honored Clark’s storied career by officially retiring his jersey.

"This is my hall of fame," said Clark as he addressed fans at Oracle Park.

Clark played eight seasons with the Giants and made five All-Star appearances and is just the 11th player to have a jersey retired by the Giants.

In 1989, Clark batted .333 and tallied 23 home runs to help the Giants win 92 games and reach the World Series for the first time since 1962.

"I was able to go out on the field and do my job," Clark said in a one-on-one interview with KTVU on Friday. "I could not have done that without a lot of people, teammates, fans, support personnel, the whole works, we did this together."

The organization put on an hour-long ceremony before the game to celebrate Clark that included a montage video, and speeches from fellow Giants greats and Clark's former teammates.

Barry Bonds, Buster Posey, Robby Thomson, Kevin Mitchell and others were on the field to honor Clark.

After the ceremony, Clark said it was an emotional, fun day that he would never forget.
