It’s the end of the season for the San Jose Sharks after losing to the St. Louis Blues in Game 6 the Western Conference Finals on Tuesday night. The Blues winning 5 to 1.

Fans started leaving a watch party at the SAP Center after the Blues were up 3 to 1 in the third period. Many fans said the Sharks lost steam at the end of their playoff run.

“A little sad,” said Jose Zepeda of Hollister. “We gave it our best. That's all we can really do.”

“Always a bridesmaid never a bride,” said Travis Schmitz of Napa. “We will see what happens next year.”

Fans were seen consoling one another as their dreams of a Stanley Cup were quickly dashed.

“I’m proud they played as well as they did,” said Grace Mitchell of Los Altos. “We got some bad breaks during the playoffs.”

Hundreds of fans entered the Shark Tank knowing the odds were stacked against the team. Several key players were out of the lineup for Tuesday’s game due to injuries.

“Nervous it's going to be a rough game,” said Ian Jacobs of San Jose. “We are missing Karlsson, Hertl and Pavelski is game time decision.”

Fans attending the watch party said they liked to soak up the energy and the atmosphere.

“I wanted to experience the tank one last time just in case,” said Michelle Philips of San Jose.

The game started and ended on a sour note. A minute and half into the game, the blues scored first.

“No words, it's a heartbreaker,” said Mikel Stevens of San Jose. “I hope they can get it together from here.”

Fans sat on the edge of their seats, unable to watch. The Sharks were able to get on the board, but unable to come back.

“It just doesn't seem they are getting it together,” said Yolanda Madrid of Milpitas. “They are not playing as a team. They are all over the place.”

In the end, after two game sevens in the first and second round of the playoffs, fans said the team simply didn't have enough in them to force a third game seven.

“I’ve been watching the Sharks since I was a little kid,” said Luciano Silva of San Jose. “I've been getting jerseys. I've been getting shark cakes, so much stuff and we haven't won the Stanley Cup yet we've gotten so close.”
