Bay Area university to offer full-ride scholarships
Northeastern University Oakland, formerly known as Mills College, is offering seven full-ride scholarships to students in the Oakland Unified School District. Each scholarship, valued at $85,000 per year, covers tuition, room, and board for four years. Awarded annually, these scholarships allow students to study at any of Northeastern's 13 campuses, including London, Toronto, and Seattle. The event is free for the first 500 attendees who have a current EBT card.

Voting age for Oakland, Berkeley school boards lowered to 16
For the first time ever in California, teenagers as young as 16 will be able to cast their votes in school board elections this November in the cities of Oakland and Berkeley. The historic move comes after voters approved two ballot measures in 2016 and 2020 that permits teen participation in local school board races.
