Sharks enter playoffs; recently add model to team

The Golden State Warriors aren't the only Bay Area sports team fans are rooting for to go all the way. On Thursday night, the San Jose Sharks played their rivals, the Los Angeles Kings in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Pavelski, Hertl lead Sharks over Canucks 4-1

Joe Pavelski and Tomas Hertl scored 2:28 apart in the third period, helping lift the San Jose Sharks over the Vancouver Canucks 4-1 on Sunday. Patrick Marleau and Justin Braun, into an empty net, had the other goals for the Sharks, while Martin Jones made 23 saves. Marc-Edouard Vlasic added two assists, with Pavelski and Braun picking up one each for San Jose.

Sharks use big 1st period to beat Blues 6-3

A big hit sidelined San Jose's Matt Tennyson and fired up the Sharks. Tomas Hertl, Logan Couture and Joe Thornton each scored two goals, powering San Jose to a 6-3 victory over the St. Louis Blues on Monday night.

Sharks red hot on the road

The San Jose Sharks just keep winning away from home. Matt Nieto and Joel Ward both had a goal and an assist as the Sharks beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-2 on Tuesday night. The Sharks improved to 19-8-2 on the road after opening a five-game trip with victory.  

Sharks roll past Maple Leafs 7-0

The depth scoring that has been missing most of the season for the San Jose Sharks finally showed up in a big way. Tomas Hertl scored twice and Matt Nieto, Melker Karlsson and Joonas Donskoi also snapped goal-scoring droughts to help the Sharks beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 7-0 Saturday for their most lopsided shutout since 2001.

Jones, Sharks beat Devils in shootout to remain unbeaten

After San Jose goalie Martin Jones came within 3:38 of his third consecutive shutout, Jones was happy with winning his fourth straight game and helping the unbeaten Sharks get a 2-1 shootout win over the winless New Jersey Devils.

Sharks forward Raffi Torres suspended for 41 games for hit

San Jose Sharks forward Raffi Torres was hit with the longest suspension in NHL history for a hit on another player when the league banned him Monday for the first 41 games of the season for an illegal check to the head of Anaheim's Jakob Silfverberg.
